Video: New Young Pony Club: "Ice Cream"
A couple weeks ago the Village Voice posted a cover story about candy addiction, which towed the same old line: women crave food, men love porn. New Young Pony Club bring those two disparate addictions together in the video for their debut single "Ice Cream". While not quite on the level of splosh fetish porn, they nevertheless use lots of sticky confections to not-so-subtly suggest the connection between sex and sweets.
It's good that the video is pure eye candy, because the track is pretty sparse, consisting mainly of double entendres, electro three-x sexxx come-ons, and a beat that hits the bloodstream like a sugar-rush. "I can be the sauce you crave," offers frontwoman Tahita Bulmer in an accent that falls somewhere between Long Island and robot (even though she's from London), while a run of syrup dribbles into her open mouth. But even with the Vice-like imagery, what sticks most is Bulmer's voice bumping against that beat, and the whirring disco strings that work in service of her lustful coquetry.
