Ah, the innocent days of videocassettes. Never knew I missed the bloody things until I heard a single by the UK press' newest next big potential backlash victims, conspicuously well-dressed Surrey quintet WinterKids.

Turns out, there were a lot of things I never realized I missed: catchy pop-punk songs about girls who only like boys as friends, for instance. It's fine to compare the 'Kids to Pulp, but "Tape It" is really more like Blink-182 with less Stiffler humor and vastly better tunes. OK, cheery synths and a lively guitar riff that could be a gift from the Wedding Present help, too. For bright melodies, adolescent heartache, and none of the usual stultifying self-seriousness, "Tape It" isn't to be missed.
