Video: TV on the Radio: "Province"

TV on the Radio's "Province" video is a bit of a puzzle: Kip Malone and Tunde Adebimpe repeatedly resurrect a female in military uniform as she travels backwards through space, then a forest, and then, on her last fall, a Christ-like figure stands above her. Cryptic! While the film stock the directors use makes this black-and-white video look especially cinematic and luminescent, it doesn't create the same hypnotic feeling many slow-motion videos possess. "Stand, stare fast, erect..." goes the defiant chorus, and it matches its heroine's unwavering gaze.
