On Repeat: The Postmarks: "My Little Heart" (Valentine's Day Special!) [MP3]

The Postmarks' debut album should sound perfect on Valentine's Day. Soft twee-pop vocals melt into sophisticated 60s lounge arrangements while hypnotic repetitions more common to dance music cast their warm, woozy spell as effectively as any bottle of wine (at least the kind I can afford). To those who just can't wait, this Miami trio send the previously unreleased Valentine's Day track, "My Little Heart".

In a scant minute and a half, singer Tim Yehezkely glides through well-worn metaphors about her lovesick cardiac muscle-- first it's a puppet, then a drum-- and it's "got room for two," as sentimental piano and woodwinds cushion her classic-pop melody. "Say you'll be mine, and no one will love you/ Close to the way I do," Yehezkely concludes. It may not be as distinctive as anything on the album, but it sure beats buying flowers. (Disclaimer: May not be considered an acceptable substitute for actually buying flowers.)
