New Music: The Ponys: "Poser Psychotic" [MP3]
People say "sloppy" when they talk about the Ponys. That ain't quite right. Like Sonic Youth (especially on this track!), the band takes precise sounds and covers them with echo and reverb, but you can still hear order and skilled playing in their songs. On "Poser Psychotic", from their upcoming Matador debut Turn the Lights Out, the Ponys use a sharp four-note guitar lead to cut a clean path through its drone and noise.
