Old Music: The Velvet Underground & Nico: Alternate Takes from the 1966 Acetate [MP3s]

Last December we brought you the story behind a 1966 test-pressing of The Velvet Underground & Nico, which featured some alternate takes and mixes that didn't make it onto the album proper. Warren Hill, owner of Backroom Records (and Pastries) in Montreal, purchased the record at a New York sidewalk sale for 75 cents in 2002, and eventually sold it online for $25,000. But the rock 'n' roll "Antique Roadshow" ain't done yet: MP3s from the rare vinyl are now available through WFMU's blog, Beware of the Blog. The tracks include "European Son", "I'll Be Your Mirror", "Heroin", and "I'm Waiting for the Man", among others from the classic album. It's not like turning 75 cents into 25 grand, but it's close. No, just kidding, it's nowhere close. Are you gonna eat the rest of that sandwich? [via WFMU's Beware of the Blog]
