The title track to Aesop Rock's upcoming album None Shall Pass is buried at the bottom of the new Definitive Swim compilation (a collaboration between Definitive Jux and Adult Swim). While we're most eager to hear the El-P and John Darnielle collaborations, there are some good things about this first taste from the upcoming record. The cold synth bells that make up the melody work well with Aesop Rock's steely rapping. It seems like the disco beat, provided by Blockhead, would work-- a dispassionate beat for a clinical sort of song. But it's just a little pre-fab for us. We don't think the Darnielle track will have the same problem.
