Video: Klaxons: "Gravity's Rainbow" (LP Version)

Bands re-record previously released singles for their albums all the time, but it's rare to see a band release a new video as well. It's been almost a year since the Klaxons' debut single "Gravity's Rainbow" first brought them attention in their native England, and the group's accompanying video was an off-the-cuff affair involving little more than some green screen, a couple of props, and their own colorful wardrobe.

The album version of "Gravity's Rainbow" has a few small but jarring changes: The song, produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford, has additional off-key (and, to some of us Pitchforkers, out-of-place) guitar noodling over parts of the verse and chorus, as well as some new distorted blips and whines. Version two of the video covers parts of the original: It still begins by zooming into a TV set, the band still holds newborns, and the camera still swings around Klaxons nauseating fashion. But Klaxons' candy-colored outfits have been replaced with Interpol's wardrobe. Their props are far more faux-serious than faux-trash, like the hourglass the band holds up to the camera (the group played a game of Battleship in the original).

The video was directed by Saam of Partizan, who is also responsible for the clips to Simian Mobile Disco's "Hustler", New Young Pony Club's "Ice Cream", and Electric Six's "Gay Bar", as well as the original "Gravity's Rainbow" video. [Via Antville]
