New Music: Slaraffenland: "Watch Out" [MP3]
Where Grizzly Bear would harmonize, Denmark's Slaraffenland chant. "Watch Out"'s vocal chant is not exactly a chest-beater, but it's definitely more strong than pretty, more shouting than singing. It contrasts well with "Watch Out"'s guitars, which hypnotize as they chime in the background. "You'd better watch out" threatens the band; still, their anger's tempered by the subdued horn line. The ending is a surprise, then, especially when the horn tramples back and forth, as if the band's challenged it to a fight.
