New Music: Calexico: "Ocean of Noise" (Arcade Fire cover) [MP3]
Calexico's Martin Wenk and Jacob Valenezuela provided horns for Arcade Fire's "Oceans of Noise", and at a recent show at Tucson's Rialto Theater their band covered the song as well. The track, was recorded in early January, is pretty good, despite sounding as if it were recorded from the audience. Like Calexico's latest, Garden Ruin, the cover is understated but detailed, the horns gilding the acoustic guitar's soft edges. [Via Merge Blog and the Torture Garden]
