Video: Spoon: "The Ghost of You Lingers"
A Will Ferrell movie this ain't. Less than a year after making a film score foray on Stranger Than Fiction, Austin's Spoon can be heard on this arty, abstract (almost certainly unofficial) video for "The Ghost of You Lingers", from the forthcoming Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (due July 10 on Merge). The song returns to the spacious minimalism of Kill the Moonlight highlight "Paper Tiger", but with a krautrock electronic pulse that reportedly gives the new album its title. The video starts with a piano keyboard melting, which not only makes for a cooler image than boring ol' ebony and ivory (how about, ice cream and chocolate sauce?) but also aptly evokes the track's outer-space keyboard effects and stereo-panned vocals. Other images flash by indistinctly: prescription drugs, bright lights, big city. "If you were here, would you calm me down?" Britt Daniel wonders. What a world, what a world.
