Video: Emma Pollock: "Adrenaline"
Emma Pollock, former singer/guitarist with Glasgow indie-poppers the Delgados, isn't necessarily as laid-back as her crystal voice would have you believe. For one thing, don't say her new single is "lovely", as she recently reminded Pitchfork's Matthew Solarski. "Adrelanine", the first track pulled from forthcoming solo debut Watch the Fireworks, may start as quiet, piano-based pop drama, but it takes a harried, guitar-driven turn. Call it a lovely ambush, maybe?
The light "adrenaline rush" of the lyrics carries through to the video, which shows Pollock speeding around in a car with enough rapid movement for the new No Age video we told you about. Pollock's fresh interest in fashion is evident in her retro button-up coat, black with red trim, but soon she and a redheaded cohort are kidnapping a well-dressed young man. After he climbs back out of their trunk, the three dash to a hilltop. The clouds are all behind them.
