New Music: The 1990s: "Super-Legal" [ft. CSS's Lovefoxx] [Stream]
Imagine sitting in on a backstage binge between Scottish three-piece 1990s and their recent tourmates, Brazilian "Alcohol"-lovers CSS. "Wait, is this legal?" asks a naïf. To which 1990s' new B-side with CSS singer Lovefoxx responds, "Super dooper Kelly Cooper fucking double super legal!" and before you've even smoked any of their "super-legal super weegal", you find yourself slurring catch phrases you don't understand, banging your head to an unexpected percussion break. Um, second opinion?
Party-rocker "Super-Legal" is the flip to the 1990s' forthcoming U.S. single, "See You at the Lights", which arrives June 19 ahead of the band's debut album, Cookies, due July 31. 1990s singer/guitarist (and former Alex Kapranos bandmate) Jackie McKeown and CSS's Lovefoxx laugh through their in-joke lyrics over Franz Ferdinand-spiked guitars. This and other 1990s B-sides will be available on the band's iMeem page after the release of the single.
