Video: Girl Talk: Live at the Montreal Jazz Festival

Wireless technology has come to this. As if it weren't wild enough that Girl Talk recently performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the sample-happy laptop producer known to his parents as Gregg Gillis also, um, took his music to the streets. The good folks at Open Source Cinema and the Basement Tapes put together this video commemorating Gillis' outdoor jazz-fest adventure.

First, we see the impressive gear setup that made the street happening possible. Next up, Girl Talk plays tracks like his "Tiny Dancer"/"Juicy" mash-up ""Smash Your Head" within the venue. Finally, dude lugs his laptop rig into the open air, keeping the tunes coming with a high-pitched version of "Nothing Compares 2 U". Judging by the wild cheers and sparklers sent up by Girl Talk's assembled admirers, the sound of a gazillion familiar tracks whizzing by at 88 MPH is a whole lot better at street level. Me, I can't even keep a wireless connection for a whole IM convo
