New Music: A Sunny Day in Glasgow: "C'mon" (live on KEXP) [Stream]

A Sunny Day in Glasgow's music doesn't really sound like the product of a few people playing live in a room. On the Philadelphia band's debut album, Scribble Mural Comic Journal, early Creation Records guitar haze floats above puffy electronic clouds, while the effects-laden vocals of identical twins Lauren and Robin Daniels sound at once innocent and twisted. Surely, the studio is a key instrument here.

Not necessarily. Along with brother Ben, the Daniels sisters demonstrated that A Sunny Day in Glasgow's off-kilter tweegazing isn't just a dream during a recent performance of "C'mon" for Seattle-based public radio station KEXP. Even without overdubs or stereo-panning effects, the sisters' ghostly sing-song still revolves around the guitar reverb like a merry-go-round at a deserted amusement park. Their brother joins them with guttural shouts, then the ride lifts off and floats away.
