New Music: Augie March: "There Is No Such Place" (acoustic version) [MP3/Stream]
Melbourne, Australia's Augie March take a track from last year's Moo, You Bloody Choir, shut down the electricity, and make the song even nicer than it was the first time around. The original version was a shoegazer-country ramble with a slow two-step beat. This one settles for an arrangement you could play in any living room, with a bit of casual upright piano, and a little acoustic guitar. Glenn Richards' sweet, high tenor describes a dream world with "a sun that doesn't set but settles," and "a river winding blue among the dunes," and goes on to mix imagery of a peaceful night with strangers at the door. There's not a whole lot to it, which is why it works-- it's a lullaby for a quiet dream world, played with a gentleness one might show a child.
