Video: Blonde Redhead: "The Dress"
In this video for Blonde Redhead's "The Dress", a song from their recent album 23, director Mike Mills dials up the sadness to an almost unbearably intense level. The latest in a series of Blonde Redhead clips by Mills cuts between close-ups of people staring into the camera. At first, expressions are blank, but halfway through, they begin to cry, their faces in obvious pain as tears stream down. Some sob, others barely manage to keep it together. Jesus. Mills is riffing on the first line of the atmospheric ballad ("The tears you see on my face/ You do have something to do with"), and since the people on camera are looking directly at me, I can't help but think I'm responsible, somehow. Sorry..?
