Video: Mastodon: "Sleeping Giant"
If Mastodon were Satanists, Lucifer would have acquired some fresh souls during the band's brilliant set at the last weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival. Hardcore indie-pop dudes were throwing up horns in the pit, people who didn't know Reign in Blood from "Rainy Days and Mondays" were banging heads ferociously. The band's Roboshobo-directed new video for "Sleeping Giant" is an over-the-top sci-fi space fantasia, heavy on the "symbolism," that looks like it might have cost a few bucks. It sails the seas of cheese pretty nicely, even if it's not quite "Pigs in Space".
