"The Plot" (live on "Late Show With David Letterman")

Are you there, David Letterman? It's us, Pitchfork. No one bats an eye anymore when you present live performances from the most widely acclaimed bands out of the indie circuit, such as Spoon or Interpol. Nonetheless, New York six-some White Rabbits' recent appearance on "Late Show" seems particularly remarkable for a band garnering praise from blogs and online zines for a debut record, Fort Nightly, on the small Say Hey imprint.

To put things in perspective, White Rabbits recently wrapped up an opening gig for Art Brut, ingeniously earnest UK rockers who have so far been shut out from Letterman's show as if it were "Top of the Pops" (OK, OK, they got Conan). After giving the Letterman audience a full-throated rendition of their Walkmen-like anthem "The Plot", White Rabbits are currently embarking on a headlining tour of their own before a set of opening gigs with another Dave fave-- Kaiser Chiefs. Well, maybe Paul Shaffer isn't a regular reader, after all.
