Video: YACHT: "Women of the World"

A seizure-inducing explosion of color and sound from the one and only YACHT, from a track on their recent album I Believe in You, Your Magic Is Real. Video is directed by James Sumner, and if you're a Jim O'Rourke fan you may remember the song's refrain from a track on his 1999 album Eureka. It's not an O'Rourke original, however; it's from a poem by Ivor Cutler, once set to music by experimentalists David Toop and Steve Beresford and released on Privilege, Cutler's 1983 album on Rough Trade. Enough history. YACHT bring the sentiment-- "Women of the world, take over/ If you don't, the world will come to an end"-- into the present moment, punking it up while the video swirls the rainbow colors into some not-so-subliminal anatomical shapes that read like a Georgia O'Keefe painting in electric blue. Can't you see Hillary Clinton taking the stage to this?
