"Cold Hands"

New Music: Black Lips: "Cold Hands"

The Black Lips recently touted King Khan and BBQ Show in Pitchfork's Guest List, and the tracks we've Forkcast so far from the Lips' forthcoming album show why. Both Khan and these Good Bad Not Evil ATLiens are putting their own twisted stamp on surf-rock guitar solos and adenoidal shouts that otherwise could've been culled from a Nuggets box. We've been enjoying the video for lead UK single "Cold Hands" for a while, and now Vice has kindly posted a free mp3.

Yeah, yeah, the Lips may have calmed down some, and good luck finding a "Katrina"-like political layer. "I'm not so hot on the song," bassist/vocalist Jared Swilley even tells Paste. But a guy needs someplace to turn after King Khan and the Shrines' What Is?! for an extra dose of scuzzy, old-timey r&b. Also, if your hands are cold, turn down the A/C.
