Pitchfork readers fluent in French can comb the text of the latest Take Away Show video podcast to see what brought Beirut's Zach Condon together with the Romani brass band Kočani Orkestar in Paris for a rendition of the latter's ""Siki, Siki Baba". The rest of us will have to make do with the music. It's a pretty chaotic scene, with the cameraperson swept up in the crowd as Condon swaps horn lines and vocals with whoever is handy. It also looks like crazy fun. The heavy dude on trumpet at the left of the screen has a tone and articulation that puts Condon's playing in the shade, but then, the Beirut project isn't about sweating the technique. It's about scenes like this.
