"The Salmon Dance"

Video: The Chemical Brothers: "The Salmon Dance"

"Most MCs, faced with the prospect of rhyming over something Arthur Baker might have concocted after an afternoon of gorging on vanilla-frosted hash brownies and Spongebob reruns, would probably rap about dancing like a fish on crack, too." This is how Pitchfork reviewer Nate Patrin let rapper Fatlip off the hook for his silly lyrical turn on "The Salmon Dance", from the Chemical Brothers' latest album We Are the Night. The video, directed by Dom & Nic, makes it all better. First, it's got a blowfish. Everyone loves blowfish. And this one even raps. And then there's a chorus of seahorses, dancing around like one-legged Rockettes. As to whether it redeems the album, as a whole, well... sorry, Charlie.
