Videos: Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson / Will Oldham / Petra Haden: Videos from the Guilt By Association LP
Turn on, tune in, and drop some (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson's version of Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger", posted here back in May, heps the sozzled Britpop anthem to the flowery tropicália of artists like Caetano Veloso. The song comes from the forthcoming Guilt By Association compilation of "guilty pleasure" covers, and 21-year-old Andrew Cahill has won the corresponding music video contest with this animated clip. A film student at the Rhode Island School of Design, Cahill spent three weeks making the video in his parents' basement.
In a white room, with a black exterior, in a city, an all-white figure gazes sadly at an all-white flower. Ah, but it turns out the dude's next-door neighbor has gotten hold of a complete Crayola box. If you've seen Pleasantville, you can probably guess what happens next: Noel Gallagher starts a revolution from his bed, and pretty soon the whole world starts looking a lot more colorful. The Suede/Blur reference here is still golden. Congratulations, Andrew!
