A couple of weeks ago Animal Collective played France's Midi Festival and some video of their set just hit YouTube. Forget the shaky handheld cellphone stuff-- this is high-quality official footage captured with multiple cameras. The clip for Sung Tongs favorite "Leaf House" gives a good indication of how they build up songs live, going from loud shouts/chants run through a delay pedal and gradually segueing into the song proper, with the Geologist and Panda Bear generating the music-- what little there is of it-- electronically. "Loch Raven" finds Panda and Avey Tare drumming and singing while standing to bring the ethereal sine-wave ballad from Feels to life. Via Gorilla vs. Bear.
