Video: Animal Collective: "Tasty Place" / "Material Things" (Live at Midi Festival)
New, high-quality video keeps cropping up from Animal Collective's recent set at France's Midi Festival. Last week we showed you live clips for Sung Tongs' "Leaf House" and Feels' "Loch Raven". The latest video introduces two tunes even newer than the band's forthcoming album, Strawberry Jam. We suspect they're some kind of marmalade.
A.C. message boarders are calling the first song "Tasty Place", and it finds Avey Tare and Panda Bear trading wobbly harmonies. "Am I really all the things that are inside of me?" they repeat, their delay-drenched existential query punctuated by shouts of "hey." On the second song, known to fans as either "Material Things" or "Social Status", Tare and Panda Bear sing about how they may be living in a material world, but they're not exactly material girls. Two good reasons to look forward to 2009-- no matter what Tokyo Police Club might say. Via Gorilla vs. Bear.
