"What's a Girl to Do"

Video: Bat for Lashes: "What's a Girl to Do"

Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan is upfront about her influences on "What's a Girl to Do", from the ever-ubiquitous "Be My Baby" opening to the melodramatic Shangri-Las spoken-word verses. But there's a gothic ominousness, too, in the recently released single's minor chord harmonies and sparse keyboards. This Dougal Wilson-directed video follows the Brighton, UK-based Khan across one long continuous shot. You never forget how to ride a bicycle, maybe, but you certainly never forget the sight of animal-masked cyclists pulling off synchronized jumps. Definitely one of the most enjoyably eerie clips we've watched recently. (Via Idolator.)
