"Keys to the City" (Live)

Video: The Go! Team: "Keys to the City" (Live)

When we first met the Go! Team on 2004's sample-toting Thunder, Lightning, Strike, it took while to get used to the idea of the UK pop action heroes as a real-life live band. You mean actual human beings-- not, like, cartoons-- were playing this stuff? In smoky clubs? With plenty of touring and a live album under their (utility?) belts, the Go! Team have now posted their second live video from forthcoming sophomore album Proof of Youth. Damn, 2004 was forever ago.

This performance of the new LP's "Keys to the City" appears to be taken from the same shoot as the previous "Grip Like a Vice" live clip. Directed by Bob Jaroc, the video shows lead cheerer Ninja and the rest of the team jumping around as if seen on a black-and-white TV, playing surf-rock guitar licks beneath more of those triumphant horns. Some old-school shots of cities and graffiti get woven in the way you'd expect in a video for the band's studio tracks. Guess what, they're touring.

[Original track from Proof of Youth, due 09/11/07 on Sub Pop]
