New Music: Trey Told 'Em (Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk and Frank Musarra): "In-DEED Mix" [MP3]
You may remember Trey Told 'Em duo Gregg Gillis and Frank Musarra from their recent remixes of Simian Mobile Disco and Tokyo Police Club. Or, in Gillis' case, his other project-- Girl Talk, ever heard of him? Gillis and Musarra have teamed up to put together a 32-minute mix for XM Satellite Radio's "In-DEED" show, which focuses on "indie dance" music. It's hosted by DJ Gavin Holland, and previous guest DJs have included Curtis Vodka, The Rub, Cobra Krames, and Nick Catchdubs.
Trey Told 'Em's mix is as schizophrenic as you would expect from Gillis and Musarra. Selections range from R. Kelly's "I'm a Flirt" to Of Montreal's "Gronlandic Edit" to Van Halen's "Pretty Woman" cover, finding time in between for lesser-known cuts like Baltimore rapper Height's "Bad Weather". The Digital Underground are in full effect for "Kiss You Back", Porno for Pyros visit "Tahitian Moon", and Dr. Hook looks into your "Sexy Eyes". Fleetwood Mac even warn you never to break "The Chain". Tokyo Police Club? They're here, too.
