Video: Bob Dylan: "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) (Mark Ronson remix)"
Bob Dylan going electric this isn't. Mark Ronson has taken the folk-rock icon's Blonde on Blonde classic "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)", recorded in Nashville in 1966, and made it sound like it was recorded in Motown around the same time-- except with a heavier beat. So basically, Dylan now sounds like Ronson-produced retro r&b singer Amy Winehouse, his gruff voice suspended among bright horns and slick guitar hooks. The original's harmonica and electric organs (not so hot right now) are downplayed if not outright excised, but Ronson is just gussying up the past, not bringing it to meet the present.
The video isn't much, either: some Dylan-a-likes walking around, people filming stuff, dudes playing horns, a gospel choir clapping. Obviously, Dylan just likes to get people riled up these days-- remember the Victoria's Secret ads?-- but Ronson ain't exactly Bob Johnston. Or haven't you heard his Version album, released earlier this year? Um... any of you?
