Texas indie-poppers Voxtrot graduated to the LP format earlier this year, and they recently stopped by Spinner's "The Interface" to play some songs from their self-titled debut album. First up was a looser version of "Kid Gloves", which we featured here back in March. "Dead weight all right, I know, you're no good for me," lead singer Ramesh Srivastava shouts, his voice getting raspier than on record. The "Clocks"-like piano of "Ghost" comes up next, followed by the Ben Folds character-sketch cheeriness of "Steven". On the emotional finale, the Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives EP's "Soft and Warm", Srivastava sings, "You are so young, so feel alive/ And one day you will live on your own," like a promise of freedom to kids anywhere.

In a subsequent interview, Voxtrot discuss the differences between the album and the EPs, working with producer Victor Van Vugt, and having "to lose my idols to find my voice". They also chat about "synchronized swimming" and getting into hotel pools after hours.
