Video: Róisín Murphy: "Let Me Know"
Dance clubs create a fine line between lonely isolation and lustful hedonism, as disco songs have recognized at least since Donna Summer's "Last Dance". Ex-Moloko singer Róisín Murphy knows the feeling in the video for sleek dance-pop single "Let Me Know", from forthcoming album Overpowered. If the video for prior single "Overpowered" portrayed the solitariness of a star performer, the latest clip captures a more everyday ache. Murphy makes a casual diner her own nightclub, dancing under brightly colored lights as the other patrons go on with their meals unaware. "Let me know when you're lonely," she repeats, swathed in luxurious synths. In the end, it's all just a fantasy, but the singer remains Euro-chic in pink gloves, a black cape, and a sleek white cap-- a more practical outfit than the checker-board get-up from the "Overpowered" video, sure, but she still looks like a star.
