Video: Jens Lekman: "Pocketful of Money" (Live in a parking lot in Sweden)
Jens Lekman just wrapped up a couple of shows in Malmö, Sweden. This video finds Lekman performing Oh You're So Silent Jens' romantic yet apologetic "Pocketful of Money" in a parking lot outside the venue, Inkonst, on Saturday night. Onlookers provide the tune's finger-snapping accompaniment, even chiming in where the album version features a sample of Calvin Johnson's voice from Beat Happening's "Gravedigger Blues", as the Swedish crooner strums his acoustic guitar. When Lekman sings, "I can't say that you are pretty/ That would make me a liar," the line still elicits chuckles. It's an intimate and affecting video in keeping with the "Take Away Shows" or "Black Cab Sessions" (hey, Lekman also has a song called "Black Cab") style we've been seeing a lot lately.
