L.A. production tandem Guns N Bombs beat the bloghaus types to the punch by signing with trés chic French label Kitsuné late in 2006 (and on a MySpace message no less). Their rip-snorting "Nothing Is Getting Us Anywhere" shredded U.S. dancefloors throughout 2007, with its desperate robot vocals and a sawtooth router bit.

Formed by Ima Robot bassist Filip Turbotito and Chicago DJ Johnny Love, they have already remixed tracks from Klaxons and Chromeo. A forthcoming album, not picked up by a label so far, should make a serious impact on the culture of U.S.-bred dance music. Of course, neither Love nor Turbotito were born inside our borders (Italy and Denmark, respectively).

Two more remixes serve to further define the Guns N Bombs sound. Paired with the powerfully plaintive vocals of the Gossip's Beth Ditto on "Yr Mangled Heart", GNB become an emotional steamroller, dropping new wave synths over a square wave sound. And the flute-powered Echoplex breakdown should have more hands in the air than a gospel revival.

The second track turns the playful dance-pop of Junior Senior on its head. "Can I Get Get Get" (to know you better baby...) ups the tempo and the scarred rock elements until the track is a frenzy of acid squelches and ass-shaking distortion. Turbotito spent some time in Junior Senior, and he must have thought that this is what they could have sounded like.
