It's been a huge year for Of Montreal, with an acclaimed full-length, an EP, and some cool little one-offs, but they're not quite done yet. Two more releases are slated for 2007, the four-song digital-only EP Sony Connect Set, recorded at the music retailer's studios in Santa Monica back in January, and a reissue of their 2003 import-only covers and B-sides collection If He Is Protecting Our Nation Then Who Will Protect Big Oil???. This track, an acoustic cover of Swedish pop-rockers Love Is All's "Make Out, Fall Out, Make Up", is taken from the former. The original's distorted guitars and shouty vocals are calmed down considerably; Kevin Barnes essentially turns a big-tent anthem into a private confessional, a pretty neat trick. Of Montreal's The Late BP Helium, aka Bryan Poole, is on backup vocals and second guitar.
