While it has origins in former Delgados singer Emma Pollock's "Limbs", the latest from the equal opportunity shapeshifters known as Various could hardly be called a remix. The folks at 4AD would hardly call it that either; despite commissioning this as a remix, they refused to released it once they heard just how drastically it diverged from the original. To be fair, there's not much of the source material in here-- in fact, considering that Pollock even re-recorded her vocals for this, maybe not any at all. What we end up with instead is another 12" installment in Various' increasingly winding catalogue, this one mashing together a lurching, sorta-dubsteppy rhythm with scattershot percussions and Pollock's careful indiepop delivery. Like most of Various' stuff, it works despite not really feeling like it should.
