"The Pyramid"

Video: Love of Diagrams: "The Pyramid"

Some pyramids take years and the suffering of countless slaves to build (unless you believe that crackpot alien-intervention stuff). Australian trio Love of Diagrams construct "The Pyramid", from Matador debut LP Mosaic, out of little more than Luke Horton's post-punk guitar angles and vocalist/bassist Antonia Sellbach's anxious shrieks. The video for the track shows Horton, Sellbach, and drummer Monika Fikerle projected in black-and-white across various rooms of a house: Sellbach shakes her head back and forth emphatically from behind a ceiling lamp, while Horton is in the shower picking out his stormy din. A stop-motion sequence near the end pulls together all the books and clutter on the floor, forming a shape a tiny pharaoh could call home for an afterlife or two.
