New Music: Trey Told 'Em (Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk and Frank Musarra): "Super Epic Thrill Jockey Mega Massive Mix" (excerpt) [MP3]
We touched on the 15th anniversary of Chicago label Thrill Jockey earlier this month, when we premiered the Sea and Cake's cover of Califone's "Spider's House". The label has a multi-pronged celebration going, including a box set of 7" singles along with shows in London and here in Chicago. Thrill Jockey also commissioned a 70-minute megamix of their catalog from Trey Told 'Em, the duo comprised of Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk and Frank Musarra, which is alleged to include parts of songs from every artist ever on the label. There is a precedent for this kind of tribute-- "Plunderphonic" collage artist John Oswald reworked the Elektra catalog on the 1991 EP Elektrax for the label's anniversary. In any event, Time Out Chicago has posted a nearly six-minute excerpt from the piece, this particular segment being heavy on the Trans Am.

Bonus! They are also streaming some Tortoise megamix action on MySpace.
