That opening kick drum is certainly a heartbeat. Then Dan Bejar and Sydney Vermont sing the refrain, their voices complementing each other even as they fall in and out of sync. The production is generally spare, lots of space around their relaxed, slightly reverbed voices, and the instrumental touches are surprising-- an organ, some hissing synth, a bit of Twin Peaks twang. Bejar is someone who can sound lost in his own world, so it's nice to hear him and Vermont crafting such a warm and welcoming space here.
