Video: Correcto: "Joni"

With two years now since the latest Franz Ferdinand album, the Scottish band's members are finding time for side projects. ("All My Friends" is a long song, yeah, but not that long.) The archduke's drummer, Paul Thomson, has joined up with fellow Glasgow-based friends Danny Saunders, Richard Wright, and the Royal We's Patrick Doyle to form Correcto. First single "Joni" is tuneful, razor-guitared pop-punk, with Thomson's drums filling in all the spaces; it might just be the name, but something about the melody brings to mind the Pipettes' "Judy" (as done by apologetic lads rather than deceptively catty lasses).

"Wait until September," Correcto tell poor Joni, "I think I'm coming over." Wait, scratch that-- how's December for you, hmm? You see, the thing is: "Joni, Joni, I am very busy/ And this is not a good time/ For you to come over to me." Jeez, no wonder Joni might be feeling blue. Meanwhile, the video is just some fast-changing shots of birds, cats, beaches, snow, statues, goldfish, and whatever else could potentially stall a person for a couple of minutes at least. Maybe tomorrow, Joni.

[from Correcto; due February 2008 on Domino]
