New Music: Justice [ft. Mos Def and Spank Rock]: "D.A.N.C.E. (Benny Blanco Mix)" [MP3/Stream]

All right, Justice, you've taught the indie kids how to spell "dance" again. The French duo's kid-assisted, mother-approved "D.A.N.C.E." has already lived a gazillion lives this year, with remixes by Alan Braxe and Les Rhythmes Digitales just a couple of our favorites. As previously reported, Brooklyn rapper Mos Def recently signed to Downtown (Art Brut, Gnarls Barkley, Eagles of Death Metal), and he's already joined forces with new labelmates Spank Rock and his Bangers & Cash buddy Benny Blanco to give "D.A.N.C.E." yet another pass.

Sure, it may seem like blog-oriented promotional piling on, coinciding with the launch of the new RCRD LBL site, with which all these artists have an affiliation. But it could actually be somewhat prescient. Justice's dramatic chord changes and rubbery groove here will no doubt accompany other rappers again in the future-- they aren't sooo different from the loop borrowed for Warren G's "Regulate", after all, if you think about it. Mos Def and Spank Rock's verses leave much to be desired, however, especially when there are so many other ways to hear this track. Do you really want to listen to a couple of dudes shouting, "Party people, party people, get down, woo, just clap with me?" Um, now's your chance.
