Video: The Killers: "Shadowplay" (Joy Division cover)

Upon the release of Anton Corbijn's Ian Curtis biopic Control, the critics were unanimous: Needs more Killers. Actually, no, they didn't say that, but directors Spencer Kaplan and Jonathan V. Sela have interwoven Brandon Flowers and the rest of the Las Vegas emotive rockers into a video with clips from Corbijn's black-and-white film anyway. The video accompanies the Killers' cover of Joy Division's suicidal "Shadowplay", originally from 1979's godly Unknown Pleasures. Sadly, no, that isn't Paul Banks on vocals. The less said about this tin-drummed (if that reverby Martin Hannett sound was easy, everyone would do it), glossed-up, ooh-ooh-oohing, but otherwise all-too-faithful rendition, the better; it's sort of like finding out James Blunt covered "Young Folks", or that there isn't a Santa Claus. Still, at least it's less traumatic than the Killers' recent video with Lou Reed, and the volume seems unusually low. All the better to focus on Flowers' mustache. (via Spinner)
