New Music: The Gutter Twins (Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan): "Idle Hands" [Stream]

Dark and sleazy blues/rock/glam duos need a nickname. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are the Glimmer Twins. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are the Toxic Twins. Neil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux were Adam and Eve. Continuing the tradition, 1990s alt-rock veterans Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan, as previously reported by Pitchfork news, are the Gutter Twins. "Idle Hands", the first song from their upcoming debut Saturnalia on Sub Pop, has been posted to their MySpace page. The song delivers on the promise of the pairing, combining tense riffing and string-like drones in the verses with a soulful release in the chorus. "Let your hands do what they will do," they sing; you get the feeling they're not talking about making shadow puppets.
