Video: The Polyphonic Spree: "We Crawl"

It's hard not to talk about crazy ambition when discussing the Polyphonic Spree-- the 20-something strong orchestra/rock band/choir whose touring schedule must look even more confusing than a cable network's calendar when the writers aren't striking. But what's more ambitious than a rock band with 23 members? How about a music video with 23 directors.

The video for "We Crawl", the second single from last year's The Fragile Army, finds each of the Spree's members given a video camera, tape, and some "loose instructions" to shoot themselves doing what they do around their hometown of Dallas (apparently they don't wear robes all the time). Editor Jason Free and indie director Dante Harper (who produced the Roky Erickson documentary You're Gonna Miss Me) then pared down the hours of footage into a charming day-in-the-life mash up of family life with Tim DeLaughter-- and of course, his extended family, too.
