"Jesus, Walk With Me (Jimahl Remix)" [MP3/Stream]

Premiere: Club 8: "Jesus, Walk With Me (Jimahl Remix)" [MP3/Stream]

Club 8's "Jesus, Walk With Me" isn't the obvious choice for a remix from from the Swedish duo's latest album The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming, compared the tropical beats of "Heaven" or "Whatever You Want". It's the kind of quietly majestic song that sounds best strummed on a solo acoustic guitar in a church, as Club 8 half Karolina Komstedt lets her earnest request for faith-- "fool me into believing"-- float serenely to the rafters. That didn't seem to faze Stockholm-based remixer Jimahl, who has previously remixed tracks for the Legends, one of the various bands helmed by the other Club 8 member, Johan Angergård, who also heads up Acid House Kings. Jimahl's 8-minute remix settles into chill-out mode at the start, with Komstedt's voice criss-crossed by sleepy four-four beats, prominent bass, and sighing electronics. More percussion and melodic snippets join as the song heads into the chorus, then settles back into a wistful, spacious groove, with just a few phrases shining out of the hypnotic mists.
