Video: Headlights: "Cherry Tulips"
Writing about this appealing indie-pop track a couple of weeks ago, Marc Hogan noted, "...the cooing male-female harmonies of Erin Fein and Tristan Wraight are
in the foreground, surrounded here by pealing organ chords,
bubblegum-pop guitar strums, and light, shuffling drumming. The lyrics
don't shy away from the sugariness of the music, imagining a sea of
those self-same cherry tulips 'for you and me.' The song is strongest
toward the end, when Fein sighs a wistful "woo-ooh-ooh" amid bell-like
percussion and bent, reverb-doused lead guitar lines, the kind the
Shins might play if they had a sea of cherry tulips through which to tiptoe." The song's video begins with some tricky backwards effect but then plays it straight, with the band performing the song on an appropriately color-saturated set.
