Video: Clinic: "The Witch"
The garage-psyched Liverpudlians of Clinic don't take off their surgical masks even for Hawaiian Shirt Day. The video for "The Witch", the second clip (after "Free Not Free") taken from the band's forthcoming fifth album Do It, reveals a hazy, upbeat Nuggets throwback with jaunty downstrokes, a battering backbeat, and the usual psychedelic effects. Singer Ade Blackburn says something about a "witch hunt," and if there is one, the video detaches itself entirely from telling who's hunting whom, or otherwise implying narrative order. Instead we see the band performing, in aforementioned shirts, at some bamboo-thatched, tiki-lounge sort of place, with bottles hanging from the ceiling and shadows playing on the walls. Seemingly random stuff like sound waves and fast-paced scenes of city streets interjects, before the whole thing ends in squiggles of pacific blue. Ooh, ooh, witch-ay woman, the doctors will see you now.
