"It's your uncle, big Snoopy D-O-double-G," and he's got a new album out today called Ego Trippin'. But Snoop Dogg is barely even the "Life of Da Party" in his own video here, a bland succession of Vegas good-times clichés that's especially disappointing after the ingeniously retro yet T-Pain-trendy spectacle of "Sensual Seduction". The party is in a casino, of course, full of expensively dressed women and Snoop's pals Too Short and Mistah F.A.B., with cigars and top hats. "Live like a movie, but a movie my life," Snoop asserts, as if to justify the familiarity of this whole lavish scene. On the "say cheese" hook, all kinds of flash bulbs flash, which only highlights the similarity between the glitzy synths and the ones on Kanye West's "Flashing Lights". It's as if Snoop, for once, is actually trying to hold onto his usual stoned, mischievous, life of the Girls Gone Wild party status. He even delivers a big chunk of his lines cruising in a flashy car-- just the midlife crisis you'd expect from an uncle who still wants you to call him pet names. (via Nah Right)
