Architecture in Helsinki's "Like It or Not", first heard on last year's album Places Like This, seems a natural fit for a remix by El Guincho, whose terrific debut Alegranza! got a BNM nod in February. With its primal pop chord structure--- the I/IV/V changes are there in everything from "La Bamba" to "Cherry, Cherry" to "Good Lovin'" and a hundred more-- and a melody that reminds me just a bit of "Pass the Dutchie", "Like It or Not" has some overlap with El Guincho's aesthetic. And his remix picks up on some of those shared aspects and amplifies them, sounding very much like you'd expect, but in a good way.
