Pitchfork.tv: June 26: Grinderman / The Fiery Furnaces / The Postal Service
The Grinderman project, which debuted last year, has given the always-interesting Nick Cave a jolt of energy, and it suits him. The track that bears the band's name, however, is a delicious slow-burn number. The song's video, featuring the same monkey that appeared on the record cover, unfolds at the same unhurried pace.
Writing about this video for the Fiery Furnaces'' "Duplexes of the Dead" in Forkcast, we said, "The video for the track finds the Friedberger visages being projected
onto surfaces in a constantly changing urban streetscape while a
jawa-like figure in a cloak with glow-in-the-dark trim moves around
mysteriously through the scene. As with the last couple of videos from the record, the Fiery Furnaces aren't giving much away."
And finally, an oldie but a goodie, the pre-YouTube video for the Postal Service's 2003 single "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight".
